Aberystwyth is also home to one of the Great Little Trains of Wales. The Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway is extremely popular and will take you on a scenic tour through the beautiful Rheidol Valley to the well known attraction - Devil’s Bridge (Pontarfynach). Built in 1902, its original purpose was for carrying equipment and products to and from the lead mines in the valley.

On the summit the Camera Obscura is a recreation of the popular Victorian amusement and with its huge 14 inch lens is the biggest in the world. This enables you to enjoy an even better view. There is also a craft shop and a permanent exhibition. The new Summerhouse tearoom is certainly worth a visit as it has one of the most stunning views in Britain.

The Cliff Railway built in 1896 is the longest electric cliff railway in Britain and the only one in Wales. The ride to the summit station at a stately 4 miles an hour gives you time to appreciate the panoramic views appearing beneath you. |
